The goal of the initial Genuine Museum of Genius conference is to establish a network as the basis for discussing the relocation and transformation of the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade. Besides placing emphasis on the importance of the famous Serbian and international scientist and in- ventor in terms of research and study, it is of equal importance to consider the way his work and biogra- phy are communicated to the wider public through the museum as medium. As the Nikola Tesla Muse- um in Belgrade enters the process of (both physical and narrative) transformation, so the perspectives from which we observe and communicate Nikola Tesla and his legacy become standards on a global level.
Therefore, plans for the “new” Nikola Tesla Museum transcend the vision of one nation, one perspective, or one model of communication and narrative, creating a fusion of diverse solutions. If not, the Nikola Tesla Museum will simple be a passive promoter of the narratives that are formed (and branded else- where) and not the creator of meaning and values transmitted from one small country to the world.
Therefore, debates are both delicate and heterogeneous. For the Initial Conference we have chosen to focus on the typical challenges facing moving museum objects and the overall transformation and re- branding of an institution, and to compare them with similar narratives and challenges in other settings and circumstances.
